Tell us about yourself:
My name is Tobore Anethua, and I am married with two children. I am originally from Nigeria. I’ve lived in Canada for almost 19 years. I currently work as a security guard for commissionaires. I’ve always wanted to start a farming business but didn’t know how, especially as an African in Canada. So when I saw the founder discussing it in one of our Nigerian headlines, I was ecstatic to be a part of it. I am excited to learn more about the Canadian business scene. I know it will benefit many Africans in Canada. Growing local food here would be a dream come true for me.

How long have you been farming and why are you interested in farming in Canada:
I haven’t done much industrial framing, but I did have a garden in Nigeria where I cultivated corn, yam, and casava on a small scale for my family. I enjoyed it back then, and I feel I will love it again, especially knowing that it will support the African community in Canada. It is incredibly difficult for Africans to obtain their own organic food, and most food sent to Canada is rotten or not as fresh; being able to cultivate African food to improve the quality of life for our African brothers and sisters will bring me tremendous joy.
