Tell us about yourself:
I have a deep-rooted passion for agriculture, which began in the early 1980s. Over the years, I have developed poultry and crop farming expertise, complemented by a formal education in agriculture at the university level. My journey in farming has been both practical and academic, giving me a well-rounded understanding of the industry.
Beyond farming, I am highly interested in agricultural sustainability, food security, and innovative farming techniques that improve productivity while preserving the environment. I believe that agriculture is not just about cultivation but also about creating economic opportunities, strengthening communities, and ensuring long-term food stability.
My goal is to expand my agricultural knowledge in Canada, contribute to the local farming community, and support initiatives that empower Black farmers. I am eager to connect with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and actively foster growth within the Canadian agricultural sector. Joining the Canadian Black Farmers Association will provide the platform to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a thriving network of Black farmers.
How long have you been farming and why are you interested in farming in Canada:
I have been actively involved in farming for over 40 years, beginning in the early 1980s. My hands-on experience spans the cultivation of cassava, maize, bell peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, and yams, as well as poultry farming, which I formally ventured into in 1998 when I established a poultry farm in Nigeria. My journey in agriculture has been marked by resilience, adaptability, and a continuous desire to grow in knowledge and experience.
Farming in Canada presents a new and exciting challenge—an opportunity to integrate my expertise with advanced agricultural technologies, climate-resilient farming methods, and structured farming systems. Canada’s diverse agricultural sector offers a platform to explore large-scale and mechanized farming, connect with a broader network of farmers, and contribute to sustainable food production.
Additionally, I am motivated by the opportunity to engage with and support the Black farming community in Canada. By being part of the Canadian Black Farmers Association, I look forward to gaining insights into local agricultural practices, sharing my knowledge, and participating in initiatives that uplift and empower Black farmers nationwide.
