Tell us about yourself:
My name is Rapuluchukwu Ajekwe. I was born in Nigeria and moved to Canada in 2023. I worked as a banker for 15 years in Nigeria and currently a banker in Canada with JP Morgan. I started farming as a little boy, where I joined my parents to grow cassava, oil palm, cowpeas, maize, yam, pepper, tomatoes etc. in our large farmlands. Growing up, I also did farming on my own and developed keen interest in Agriculture, in fact it was my dream to be a farmer when I grow up, although lack of funds made me start working. I did livestock farming including goats, chicken (broiler, cockerel, local fowls etc). As a banker, I purchased some lands for piggery, poultry, fishery and plantain plantation. I set up a palm kernel processing factory in Nigeria so that I can use the cakes to feed my livestock. I left these in the east to migrate to Lagos and subsequently Canada but I have been looking for an opportunity to go into farming again.

How long have you been farming and why are you interested in farming in Canada:
I started farming as a little boy of about 7 years, where I joined my parents to grow cassava, oil palm, cowpeas, maize, yam, pepper, tomatoes etc. in our large farmlands. Growing up, I also did farming on my own and developed keen interest in Agriculture, in fact it was my dream to be a farmer when I grow up, although lack of funds made me start working. While in the secondary school and university, I did livestock farming including goats, chicken (broiler, cockerel, local fowls etc).
